Word on The Street with Ashley Caprice: Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Maxwell + MORE!

week 2Watch Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s “save the date” video for their wedding guest HERE. It shows how Wade popped the question.

Mariah Carey has parted ways with manager Jermaine Dupri. Her last album, “I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” didn’t do so well so that may have had an impact on her splitting with JD. According to Billboard.com, this is what Dupri had to say, “I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work…I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future.” The two had so many classic hits together, but I’m sure she will be fine. Mariah Carey is now working closely with Kevin Liles, who was president of Def Jam.

Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran are no longer a couple …again. She stood by his side through everything but now he’s labeling her an opportunist “Chris is shocked Karrueche’s people leaked a story that she dumped him (last week), allegedly because of a never-ending obsession with Rihanna and refusal to act like an adult. But Chris’ people claim he found out she was texting and sending photos to other guys while they were together. He was also furious she did interviews for her clothing line and talked about their relationship.” Hmmm… They’re in their early 20s, so I think they should just let it go, date around, focus on their careers, and get into serious relationships in the future.

Verses & Flow returns August 16, and you can catch performances by Maxwell, K. Michelle, Joe, Johnny Gill, Ruben Studdard, Candice Glover, Anthony Hamilton, and more  as they provide musical selections to accompany breakout spoken word artists.

MTV announces that Beyonce will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s MTV VMAs. She also leads the pack with eight nominations while Iggy Azalez and Eminem are close behind with seven nominations. There will be performances by Usher, Ariana Grande, and more.  The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards broadcast LIVE from The Forum in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, August 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Lil Kim isn’t playing ANY games this week! Over the weekend, Beyoncé released her “Flawless” remix featuring Nicki Minaj in which the rapper says she’s the “Queen of Rap.” Of course Lil’ Kim wasn’t feeling that. So Lil Kim made her own Flawless remix and rhymed, “Am I tripping or did this ho just say my name. Queen of Rap? F-ck outta here, The queen’s back” Ouch. But it didn’t stop there. Last night Lil’ Kim released a new diss record titled, “Identity Theft.”
