Beyonce Tells Why She Released Surprise Album, Plus Snippets of Songs and Videos

bey pic“I’m a groooown woman! I can do whatever I want!” And that’s exactly what Beyoncé did this morning!  The singer first told her fans on Instagram that her self-titled album is available now! She dropped the surprise album with 14 songs and 17 videos on iTunes with a retail release date of December 21; I’m sure “Beyoncé” is on a lot of Christmas wish lists.  I listened to the tracks and I love the new sound; it’s R&B with an edge.  Some of her music videos incorporate personal, home video footage, and I see Jay-Z makes an appearance in a few videos as well. You can tell the girl is in love!

Beyoncé  tells why she decided to release her album without promotion:

“I feel like right now, people experience music differently. I remember watching Thriller on TV with my family, it was an event, we all sat around the TV and now looking back, I am so happy I was born around that time. I miss that immersive experience. Now, people only listen to a few seconds of a song on their IPODS, they don’t really invest in a whole album. It’s all about the single and the hype. There’s so much that gets between the music, and the artists and the fans. I felt like, I don’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it is ready, and from me to my fans.” She explains more in a video on her Facebook page.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like Beyonce was always in a box when she was under her father’s management and now she is releasing everything that she held inside. Her sound is different. Her look is different. She seems more liberated. I can’t stop listening to Drunk in Love and Partition and Flawless and Blow and….you get the point. Listen to snippets of her songs Here.
