Another Wednesday, another time to give Props to Women in Hip Hop!
“Ahhh! Push it!”
“Let’s Talk About Sex Baby!”
“I wanna Shoop baby!”
Grammy-award winning group, Salt-N-Pepa, came slamming on the scene in the ’80s! The group won awards together, took time a part and came back together, worked on a television show together, and is still touring to this day! They are proving that women in hip hop are very necessary and have longevity in this industry.
I stumbled across an interview of the ladies on The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 and Pepa explained what it’s like to be in this industry. She says, “It’s still a male-dominated field. They always thought we would be an overnight success but we kept coming with the hits.” Yes! Hits such as “Push It,” “Shoop” and Whatta Man” just to name a few, thus making them one of the greatest female groups in hip hop.

One of my favorites: Shoop
